Family Portrait – White Family Photo Session on Wolfe Lake near Westport Ontario by Ruth Stenson Photography

November 6th 2011 – An Outdoor Family Portrait Session on Wolfe Lake near Westport Ontario

Thanks White family for the super fun session….Carter is just the cutest wee guy. He made us run to keep him out of the water but I think the result was well worth it. I laughed out loud at him “bee-lining it to the water” Hope you enjoy the photos Sara and Calvin…thanks so much and great to meet you all.

Couples Portrait – Debbie and Ron’s Photo Session (special gift) near Perth Ontario by Ruth Stenson Photography

November 5th 2011 – Romance Lives On – a portrait session featuring Debbie and Ron – at Plum Hollow Ontario

Very fun session this morning with Debbie and Ron!!!!….and yes the romance is still alive and well ;) …….why is it that couple sessions seem to be primarily be for young couples? I say bring it on 30′s….40′s….50′s and yes 60′s/70′s as well. Love to see romance alive after so many years and it is most definitely an awwww….moment.
These are very much keepsakes for the children as well as for the parents and I thought that this was EPIC of Ashley (I shot her wedding back in August) to consider this session as a gift to her parents.

And according to Ashley who said: Ruth how is it that you get more amazing with every photo shoot? I love these!

Everyone needs to do this for their parents and grandparents! I now have my parents love captured in pictures that people can look at years from now, all future generations. I wish I would have gotten this done for my grandparents when they were still here together. The pictures we have don’t capture “them”. Thank you so much Ruth I will cherish these forever!

…my sentiments exactly Ashley, there is no expiry date on true romance!

Portrait – Baby Teagan’s Journey from Kingston’s KGH and back home Portraiture Session – please read comment

November 2nd 2011 – A Newborn Miracle, a journey from Kingston’s KGH and back home – Baby Teagan

NEWBORN MIRACLE: Tegan visited today for her session and looked at me with those big brown eyes….real heart melter :) Jessica contacted me March 18th to book a maternity session for her and Mike for June 18th….little did she know that life was going to move a little quicker than expected. Jessica was 24 weeks and 4 days when Teagan entered the world on April 16th…..tipping the scale at 1 LB. 12 oz. Life has had many ups and down since April a true challenge for Teagan as well as Jessica and Mike. Constant days at KGH for 117days! Teagan came home in Aug….back to the hospital for a short time and is now home with her loving Mom and Dad. She is now 10LB 11OZ….incredible really to think that she has 5X her weight….she is a fighter….alert and sweet. The beanie baby monkey you see in the photo was given to Jessica by her Grandmother since her Grandfather was a great collector of “beanies” Jessica decided when Teagan was born to take it into the hospital to be with her over the long path that she had to climb…….they were the SAME SIZE:) A miracle….indeed….maybe Jessica’s Grandfather watched over her through those long days and nights. Jessica and Mike would like to thank Kingston General Hospital for their incredible support and expertise……a special thanks to Roberta who named Teagan “Princess Teagan” Teagan is doing well….so sweet and Jessica was thrilled that she was able to discontinue her oxygen. You’re amazing Teagan……..Mom and Dad…..you as well. Hugs

Trash the Dress – 4 brides visit an abandoned house and a cold lake – Fabulous Photo Session

October 23rd 2011 – 1 week before Halloween, 4 Brides trash the dress at an old abandoned house near Lyndhurst Ontario

Trash the Dress with 4 Brides…..we caressed the dress…….trashed it slightly and even washed the dress……I did not want the session to end. Yes these 4 girls are “delicious” “fabulous” and any other adjective that is available in the English language for their post wedding session:) We started out at a deserted house for our “Trash the Dress” session. Pumpkins, old garage, creepy house, broken windows, beach,……yes and water:) Three of these girls were my brides so this was certainly a pleasure, to once again, share more memories with them. Actually one of my most memorable days. We laughed, screamed (saw a large spider…really huge actually) and laughed some more……till we almost cried actually:) These brides were up for anything and selected a house that I had been admiring for more than a year…..you can imagine my joy when we stopped the cars…..and it was house I had dreamed about shooting at….I was ecstatic to say the least. The old house was full of memories from days gone by but had fallen into total decline. Holes in the floors….animal infested…these girls had a couple glasses of wine to toast their friendship and new experience for the day. Loved their look ….the house….the laughter….their fluid nature….the old furniture that they lay on…old sheds and of course the beach.

I pulled out all the stops to edit these FABULOUS girls for their….trash the dress session. It took me a little longer to edit than I would have liked but due to the type of session……photoshop is my best friend to achieve the look……..and I am burning my brain cells :)

Thanks girls….LOVED the day!

Please note to anyone interested in this type of session. This session is done days, weeks or months AFTER your wedding day and of course prior to cleaning your dress. If you have a vision I would love to hear. It is not necessary to literally “trash” or ruin your dress…..just a figure of speech ;) This is a creative adventure and the sky is the limit….enjoy your dress one more time….book the session…..why not wear your favourite dress one more time and do things that you were unable to do on  your wedding day. Please note:…water is not necessary…only if you want to:)
